Over moisturized hair!?

Hello Friends,

I just wanted to talk about what over moisturized hair is because it isn't something that is heavily talked about. I am currently going through my second bout of being in this state and it SUCKS, when I put my fingers in my hair they come out feeling like they are "greasy" but there is no grease to be found. My hair has sheen but it looks like it's sad, limp and drowning.

When your hair is in this type of state you can tell if you look for the right things. Raise your hand if you can check off at least two of the things I'm going to list below:

Signs your hair is over moisturized
  1. Your hair feels "too" soft (meaning that your hair just feels wet to the touch, like velvet but not in the I just got out of the salon soft)
  2. Your hair feels too stretchy
  3.  Your feel feels limp and gummy
  4. Even scalp itchiness
When your hair is in this state YOU ARE PRONE TO BREAKAGE. Your hair does not have enough protein within it to withstand moderate manipulation and well fall out. So when it is in this state your hair is basically "clogged" with liquid, so your hair is in a liquid dry state of mind. This is where the "too soft" feeling I mentioned above comes to play. The stretchy feeling the hair has is also because of lack of protein.

So to reverse the issues that over  moisturizing can cause to your hair on the next wash day do a protein treatment and try not to be as heavy handed with the moisturizers if they are new to you, or if you're an oldie.
