Sorry for my lack of posting, school calls my name
If you've been following me for a while, you will know that I have recently stepped up my oiling game and purchased three oils from Sally's that being: Coconut oil, Jojoba and Almond Oil.
This post is going to highlight my new love as of right now, Almond Oil.
I previously was using sweet almond oil, and I'll talk about the differences down below but my hair reacts better with the non sweet stuff.
Anywho,
Almond Oil or prunus dulcis, var. amygdalus if you're looking at labels, is good for not just hair but for our skin as well. The almond oil I have currently has a distinct nutty smell to it, just like the BITTER almond oil, but it doesn't linger, it only stays for about a minute or too. I've actually kind of grown to like the smell.
Hair Benefits:
- Nourishes hair and smooth hair cuticle
- Massaging with oil adds shine to hair
- Adds softness
- Absorbs easily
- Rich in protein
- Also rich in vitamin and minerals our hair needs
(This oil is a carrier oil which pretty much "takes the oil into the hair" instead of sitting on top of it. This makes them FANTASTIC as a moisturizer)
Skin benefits:
- Improves complexion and retains glow
- Moisturises better and deeper
- Soothes skin irritation and inflammation
- Relieves dry and itching skin
- Heals those chapped lips and body rashes
Above I talked about SWEET almond oil, and you can see the kind that I'm currently using on my hair is more of a blend of a few different oils. But BITTER almond oil is simply a "smell" or flavor enhancing oil.
That being said, if you buy a BITTER almond oil, or just a package that says almond oil, either read the backing or DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY.
